When I was thinking about how to start my part with this blog, I thought well why not start at the beginning– The start of the day. No matter what time you start your day, this can work for you, even if you are a shift worker.
Starting your day with micronutrients is essential. Micronutrients consist of vitamins and minerals your body needs to orchestrate bodily functions. While you were sleeping your body was busy de-stressing, and the liver and kidneys were fast at work filtering and processing what you fed your body during the course of the day. Now with a new day it’s time to rev up your body again so you can have energy to face a new start. I believe every day is a new day to begin, and I feel this step is a very important gift you can give to your body. So do it diligently!!
I start my day with 16 oz of lemon water. It’s refreshing and helps get my circulation flowing and my digestive juices working. After about 15 minutes I make my morning smoothie. It should consist of super foods. It’s very easy to make. I also take my supplements at this time like fish oil, B complex, and Vitamin D 3.
I’ve included a diagram from www.youngandraw.com to show you creative ways to put one together. However, it should always have certain power ingredients like the green veggies, coconut water, green food powder and protein powder. I also use bananas as my fruit of choice for my smoothies because they act as a thickener. They also freeze easily as does kale. So you can buy them in bulk and not worry about them spoiling. Just peel the banana and freeze, and wash the kale, de-stem the leaves and freeze. Grab a handful and throw it in a blender with other powerful ingredients and you have the most nutritious food for starting your body on its way to a great and healthy day!!
Then you can add your macronutrients like fats, protein, carbohydrates that are obtained from solid food meals. These take longer for your body to process (about 2-6 hours) which takes energy, the energy you gave your body from your smoothie!!
Later I will be covering areas of the power of hemp, maca, flax seed and other super foods you can add into many of the dishes shown on this blog site.
I will be covering fermented foods, raw foods, and foods that give you bioavailability of essential nutrients. It’s all so easy to do–you will be wondering why you haven’t done it before!!
Have a blessed and nourished day! Roxanne
